  7. EDI Link allows book publishers and book wholesalers to accept orders from
  8. their customers electronically in two ways:  (1) On line, where customers have
  9. their computers dial up and send orders to the publisher.  The publisher
  10. system will accept call, process orders and send acknowledgment back to the
  11. caller, all within the same call.  (2) E-mail, where publisher's computer
  12. dials up a network and retrieves orders sent by his customers.  EDI Link also
  13. permits the sending of purchase orders, as e-mail, using any common carrier,
  14. like GE Express.  Industry standards BISAC and X.12 are fully supported.
